I finally got some time to connect my SqeezeBox device to my sound system, and I’m amazed at the quality of the sound I can WiFi-stream from my PC LAN. This is a great illustration of the power of consumer-driven innovation, and what's to come once most of my home appliance will use my 8802.11.g transport layer to move digital asset across my living room.
The only question I have is to know if/how I can still use my Itune application as a client (vs. the existing slimdevice server front-end...)
Marc--
Isn't the Squeezebox an amazing device? Even more fun is to have several of these, which can play in sync, or with independent playlists across an entire house.
Re: iTunes--I believe you can go the other way (read the iTunes information from the Squeezebox), but not quite as seamlessly as you might want. You might view this as the downside of consumer-driven innovation--i.e. the features and power are amazing, but the integration with other things is a little bit lagging.
But still, a great addition to a music-lover's world.
