More 2005 predictions

Another batch of two 2005 technology predictions, one from the NVCA, and the other from the RedHerring.

The NVCA is a summary  of where venture capitalists predict their money will be going in the coming year, there are many VC views represented, but nothing earth shattering...

... 2005 will be the beginning of a new business cycle and a high demand for participation in the venture capital asset class will foster a strong competitive environment among VCs and limited partners alike in 2005, the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) predicted today. According to Mark Heesen, NVCA President, the year will be characterized by a return to early stage investing as new funds are raised and those dollars begin to be deployed... Technology will continue to be the cornerstone of venture capital investing in 2005 with an ongoing focus in software and the life sciences sectors...

The Red Herring 2005 trends cover the perceived hot areas,  I've selected my favorite 4 among them:

The death of distance VoIP is cheap, no doubt. What is more interesting is what it can do.

We know who you are The identity and access management crisis.

The web goes to pieces Don’t blink – web services just became real.
